The Mulvane Middle School 7th grade girls closed out their 2023 season at the Patriot League Tournament with two games last Saturday and the championship game on Monday. The girls first game was against Ark City on Saturday morning and the Wildcats wasted no time in setting the tone with a 24-0 halftime lead. The Cats finished strong for the 39-12 win. Jayde Lasiter led the girls with 15 points in the game and Lyllie Brunnelson dropped in 12 points in the game as well.

The second game for the Wildcats was against Clearwater and the teams were fairly even in the first half with the Wildcats going into halftime up 9-6. The Cats defense stiffened up in the second half, holding Clearwater to just 4 points and the Cats won 24-10 to stamp their ticket to the championship game. Jayde Lasiter led the Cats with 9 points on the evening.

The Wildcats faced the tough, and tall, Wellington team in the Patriot League championship game on Monday. The Wildcats were held to just 7 points in the first half and found themselves down 7-21 at halftime. The Wildcats bounced back in the second half and outscored Wellington 8-1 in the third quarter and outscored the Crusaders 12-11 in the final quarter, but fell just short with a final score of 27-33. Jillian Heersche led the Cats with 17 points in the game.

The 7A girls finished their season with a record of 10-5 and went 3-2 in league play and finished in 2nd place in the Patriot League tournament. The Cats finished with 496 points as a team and held their opponents to 283 points. The Wildcats were led by Jillian Heersche who finished the season with 172 points for an average of 11.5 points per game.
The 7B girls finished their season with a record of 11-1 and went 5-0 in league play. The Cats finished with 357 points as a team and held their opponents to 113 points. The Wildcats were led by Myka Rees who finished the season with 81 points for an average of 6.8 points per game.
