The Mulvane Middle School girls basketball teams go 4-0 against Augusta in the only games this holiday week.

The MMS girls basketball had one game this week on Monday before the Thanksgiving break as they hosted the Augusta Orioles for a non-league matchup.  The 7A team had a shootout with Augusta as what can be best described as an intense defensive battle between two great defensive teams. The Wildcats took the 8-7 lead in the first quarter and won the second quarter and were ahead at halftime 18-12. Augusta gained 3 points back in the third quarter, but the Wildcats were able to hold off the Orioles for an exciting 32-29 win. Jillian Heersche led the Cats with 12 points on the evening.

The 7B team took care of business against Augusta, outscoring the Orioles by 10 points to remain undefeated on the year. The Wildcats took the lead during the first half, going into halftime up 15-9. The Cats closed out the second half of the game by outscoring Augusta 15-11 and got the win 30-20. Myka Rees led the Cats with 8 points in the game.

The 8A team continued their winning ways as they defeated the Orioles 43-11. The Wildcats held the Orioles to just 4 points in the first half, going into halftime up 26-4. The Wildcats closed out the second half of the game by outscoring Augusta 17-7 and got the win 43-11. Kaitlyn Paul led the Cats with 14 points on the evening and Brittani Peschel dropped in 13 points in the game.

The 8B team had no trouble against Augusta as they won the game 36-23. The Cats were behind by 2 points after the first quarter, but went on a 13 point run in the second quarter to go up 17-6 at halftime. Augusta was not able to hang with the Wildcats in the second half and the Wildcats got the 36-23 win. Addilyn Williams led the Cats with 9 points and Addyson Clinesmith scored 8 points in the contest.

The 8A girls are sitting at 7-1 on the season and 4-0 in league play. The 8B girls are sitting at 5-3 on the season and 2-2 in league play. The 7A girls are currently at 6-2 on the season and 3-1 in league play. The 7B girls are still undefeated at 8-0 and 4-0 in league play. The girls will be on the road all next week and will be back in action on Tuesday, November 28th at Circle and Thursday, November 30th at Clearwater.
