The MMS girls basketball had a busy week with 3 games versus Wellington, Winfield, and Ark City.

The Middle School girl's basketball teams had a very busy week last week with games on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday before the Thanksgiving break. The girls traveled to Wellington on Monday and the 7A girls faced a tough team, falling 28-39 for only their second loss of the season. Jillian Heersche led the Cats with 15 points and Jayde Lasiter broke into double digits with 11 points. 

The 7B team had no trouble against Wellington as they won the game 27-13. The Wildcats fell behind in the first half, going into halftime down 11-13. The girls closed out the second half of the game by outscoring Wellington 16-0 and got the win 27-13. Jayde Lasiter led the Cats with 8 points on the evening.

The 8A team took care of business as they kept Wellington at bay all game long. The Cats took the lead during the first half, going into halftime up 31-17. The girls closed out the second half of the game by outscoring Wellington 22-12 and got the win 53-29. Brittani Peschel led the girls with 20 points on the evening and Kaitlyn Paul dropped in 15 points for the Wildcats.

The 8B team had no trouble against Wellington as well as they won the game 29-12. The girl's defense held Wellington to just 3 points in each quarter. Addilyn Williams led the Cats with 12 points in the game.

The Wildcats hit the road again on Tuesday, traveling to Winfield for a league matchup. The 7A girls won big as they held Winfield to just 4 points in the game, winning 47-4. Aubree Jantz led the Cats with 16 points and Sophia Comer dropped in 11 points in the game.

The 7B team had no trouble against Winfield as they won the game 30-11. The Cats jumped out ahead in the first half with a 19-7 lead at halftime. The girls closed out the second half of the game by outscoring Winfield 11-4 and got the win 30-11. Layla Myers led the Cats with 12 points on the evening.

The 8A team also took care of business against Winfield with a 38-11 win. The Cats took the lead during the first half, going into halftime up 16-6. The girls closed out the second half of the game by outscoring Winfield 22-5 and got the win 38-11. Brittani Peschel led the girls with 14 points on the evening.

The 8B team faced a tough Winfield team and the game came down to just a few points and the Cats fell 16-20. In a defensive battle, the teams went into halftime tied 6-6, but Winfield was able to hold the Cats at bay and got the 20-16 win. Jocelyn Bauer led the Wildcats with 5 points in the game.

The Wildcats hosted Ark City in their final games of the week on Thursday. The 7A girl's defense held the Bulldogs to zero points in the first half and finished strong for the 42-9 win. The Cats had three girls score in double digits as Jillian Heersche finished with 12 points, Sophia Comer with 11 points, and Aubree Jantz with 10 points.

The 7B team finished the week strong and got a 23-9 win against Ark City. Reese Noell led the girls with 8 points in the game.

The 8A team had no trouble against Ark City as they won the game 47-9. The Wildcats held Ark City to just 4 points in the first half and were ahead at halftime 30-4. The girls won the second half 17-5 and held the Bulldogs to zero points in the fourth quarter and got the 47-9 win. Kaitlyn Paul led the Wildcats with 18 points on the evening and Brittani Peschel finished with 15 points.

It was a hard-fought game between both teams as the 8B team faced Ark City and the Wildcats fell 26-31. The girls fell behind in the first half, going into halftime down 13-15. The girls were outscored in the second half 13-16 and fell 26-31. Addyson Clinesmith had a great game and led the girls with 13 points on the evening.

The 8A girls are sitting at 6-1 on the season and 4-0 in league play. The 8B girls are sitting at 4-3 on the season and 2-2 in league play. The 7A girls are currently at 5-2 on the season and 3-1 in league play. The 7B girls are still undefeated at 7-0 and 4-0 in league play. The girls will be back in action on Monday, November 20th for the last game before the break as they host Augusta at 4:30 PM.
