The Mulvane varsity football team traveled to Rose Hill on Friday, September 22, 2023, for a non-league matchup against the Rockets. The Cats were looking to extend their win streak to 4, but the Rockets jumped out ahead in the first quarter with a couple of scores, and to a 21-0 lead in the second quarter with a third TD. The Wildcats got on the board late in the second quarter with a 5-yard pass from Manny Myers to Kaiden Abasolo.
The third quarter was a defensive battle, but the Rockets scored twice in the fourth quarter to go up 35-7. The Wildcats added one more score in the fourth with a 70-yard TD run by Fisher Dye for a final score of 14-35.
The Wildcat's offense finished the game with 254 total yards on 44 plays with 118 yards rushing and 136 yards passing. Manny Myers finished with 136 yards on 14 completions out of 23 attempts and 1 passing TD. Fisher Dye finished with 99 yards rushing on 12 attempts and 1 rushing TD. Kaiden Abasolo finished with 43 yards receiving on 4 receptions and had 1 TD reception.
The Wildcats defense was led by Garrett Olson finished with 10 tackles (7 solo - 6 assists) and 0.5 tackles for loss. Noah West finished with 7 tackles (5 solo - 4 assist). Tucker Hargrove finished with 6 tackles (4 solo - 4 assist) and 0.5 tackles for loss. Kaiden Abasolo finished with 7.5 tackles (7 solo - 1 assist) and 1.0 tackles for loss. Hays Ensley finished with 5.5 tackles (4 solo - 3 assist) and 1.0 tackles for loss.

The JV squad hosted the Rockets on Monday, September 25th, and were also looking to extend their win streak to 4. The teams were fairly close in the first half with Rose Hill scoring first in the 1st quarter, then the Wildcats scored with a 4-yard run by Grady Myers. The Cats went into halftime down 6-14. The Cats found the endzone first in the 3rd quarter with a nice 81-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Kurtis Caruthers. Rose Hill was able to score 3 more times before Grady Myers found Brody Clasen for a 52-yard TD pass in the 4th quarter. The final score was 18-41 in favor of the Rockets.
The varsity and JV are both sitting at 3-1 on the season and the varsity will travel to Buhler on Friday for a league matchup with the kickoff at 7:00 PM.
