The Mulvane girls basketball has their best season since 2013-14. Finishes with 10 wins and 3rd in AVCTL D3.

The Mulvane girl's basketball team wrapped up their 2022-23 season this past Saturday as they took on the Andale Indians in the sub-state championship game after defeating Clearwater to advance in the bracket, the girl's first sub-state championship game in 9 years. The girls had trouble breaking through the Andale defense in the first half as they went into halftime down 6-20. The Cats fought hard but fell 25-43 as the final buzzer sounded. Teagan Garrison led the Wildcats with 12 points in the game and Ashley Young led the Cats on the boards with 5 rebounds.

The Wildcats finished their season with a 10-12 record and 5-5 in league play and had the most wins in a season since the 2013-14 season when they went 15-8 with a trip to state. The Cats finished with 725 points with 205 2-pointers, 53 3-pointers, 156 free throws, and 549 rebounds.

Junior Teagan Garrison led the Cats in offense with 265 points with 76 2-pointers, 11 3-pointers, and 80 free throws made. Garrison also finished with 74 boards on the year. Junior Madi Shaw finished the season with 149 points with 43 2-pointers, 11 3-pointers, and 30 free throws made and she finished with 62 rebounds.

Senior Lauren Young led the Cats on the boards with 149 rebounds and she finished with 106 points with 40 buckets and 26 free throws made. Sophomore Olivia Ellis led the team in 3-pointers made with 15 and she finished with 64 points and 37 rebounds. Junior Ashley Young also had a great season on the boards with 122 rebounds and she finished with 54 points. Junior Ashlyn Alumbaugh had a strong season in the paint as well and finished the season with 67 rebounds and 28 points.

"I am so thankful for these girls, these coaches, our team, and the culture we are building together," said Coach Kadee Carpenter. "This group is really, really special and I’m incredibly lucky to be their coach. Thank you girls for believing in each other and for giving more than you thought you were capable of. I’m so proud of each of you & everything we accomplished."
