It has been 115 years for the Mulvane basketball program and it has been through lots of changes, including 4 different school buildings, rule changes, lots of league championships and 1 Men's state championship in 1984. In the beginning, there were a group of boys who wanted to play some ball, so they built a court. The Mulvane News from November 16th, 1905 mentions that "some of the boys of the lower rooms have made a basketball court, and now challenge most anything". This was in the first Mulvane High School building that was built in 1880.

Their first game was on November 25th, 1905 when the Wichita high school team traveled down to Mulvane and showed our boys how the game is played and Mulvane lost 5-23 (see newspaper article here). There is no mention of any more games in the papers until February in 1906. Mulvane hosted Wellington on February 15th, 1906 and they won their first game of the programs existence 13-5 (newspaper article).

Mulvane traveled to Wichita to take on Fairmount College and according to the newspaper, the Mulvane basketball court was in much better shape than Fairmount's, but the boys lost and no score is mentioned in the article. (newspaper article)

Mulvane next hosted Derby on February 28th, 1906 and this was Derby's first game of their programs existence. Mulvane smacked them 29-4 (newspaper article).

The last game of the season was on March 3rd, 1906 as Mulvane hosted the Wichita High School again and again lost to Wichita, this time by a score of 10-17 (newspaper article).

With the information available, the first season's record was 2-3 and the Mulvane roster was: Ted Citizen, Clarence Reynolds, Eugene Blair, Ralph Eck, Roy Brown, Jesse Blandpied, Otis Schaper, Harold McKibben, Flody Anderson, and Alonzo McGarrough, and the head coach was Lee Harrison.

The girls program also started in 1905-06 and they played their games in the Opera House. The first game of the girls program was on January 13th, 1906 and they won their first game in Mulvane's history against the Wichita High School with a score of 12-10 (newspaper article). The girls would end up losing their next three and final games against Wichita 11-14 on February 8th, 1906 (newspaper article), Fairmount College on February 17th, 1906 (no score listed - newspaper article), and Wichita High School again 9-34 on March 3rd, 1906 (newspaper article).

At this time I have no information on their roster or a team photo.
