The Girls Basketball team grabs 1st win of season over Parsons; Chambers Selected to All Tournament Team.

The Mulvane girls basketball team faced Parsons in the last game of the Circle T-Bird Classic and grabbed their first win of the season with a 38-31 victory over the Vikings. Junior Haley Chambers lead the cats with 11 points on the evening with three 3-pointers and two free throws, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Junior Kaitlyn Klein finished with 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals.

Sophomore Kamryn Nolan had a great game in the lane and lead the team with 10 rebounds and finished with 5 points. Senior Carson White also had a great game in the paint with 8 rebounds and 3 points. Juniors Haley Hughes and Caylee Davis both finished with 2 points each and Hughes had 2 rebounds and 1 steal and Davis finished with 3 rebounds. Sophomore Amber Hansen finished with 2 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.

Coach Myears pulled up some younger players for the game and freshman Karlie Kanaga, Haley Shaw, and Jadyn Stevenson all saw some floor time. Kanaga finished with 4 points, 4 steals, 1 rebound, and 1 assist. Shaw finished with 3 points and 3 rebounds, and Stevenson finished with 1 rebound.

Junior Haley Chambers was selected to the 2019-20 Circle T-Bird Classic All Tournament Team. She finished the tournament with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

The Wildcats faced Independence in the 2nd round of the Tournament last Thursday, December 12th and the Cats came up short 26-42. Hughes lead the Cats with 9 points and finished with 6 rebounds. Carson White had a good game in the paint and finished with 10 rebounds and 3 points. Kaitlyn Klein finished with 5 points and 4 rebounds. Davis, Dillon, and Nolan all finished with 2 points each and Coon, Chambers, and Hansen all added 1 point each.

Points were hard to come by in the opening round of the T-Bird Classic as the Wildcats lost to Labette County 15-47 last Tuesday, December 10th. Junior Haley Hughes lead the Cats with 6 points and Chambers finished with 5 points, Hansen with 2 points, and Klein with 2 points. Carson White lead the Cats on the boards with 6 rebounds.

The Wildcats will host the Collegiate Spartans on Tuesday, December 17th for the first AVCTL D4 league games of the season. C-Team plays at 4:15 PM, Varsity at 6:00 PM, and JV at 7:30 PM.
