Mulvane Wildcats Football Ready to Hit the Grid Iron on September 6th

MHS - Football / August 26, 2019 By Kasey McDowell

After 1 week of practice, second year coach Daniel Myears is excited about the prospects of this upcoming season. Mulvane had 60 players turn out for the first day of practice on August 19th, returning 24 seniors, 7 juniors, 12 sophomores, and 17 freshman. Mulvane is coming off a 6-3 season last year and 11 starters returning (five on offense and six on defense). "We've got a lot of ground to cover for now, but with such and experienced group at the top, we're setting some pretty high goals for ourselves" said Myears.

The season will unofficially kick off this coming Thursday at 5:00 PM with a community pep rally that will involve Junior Football and Middle School scrimmages and all of the fall sports teams being introduced. Next Friday, Augusta 30th at 6:00 PM, Mulvane will participate in the new "football jamboree" with Andover High School, Wichita Southwest High School, and Augusta High School at Augusta. This is a new pre-season scrimmage format passed by KSHSAA over the summer. Each team will scrimmage each other in a limited number of plays, changing opponents throughout the evening.

The 2019 Mulvane Football schedule is as follows:

Sep 6 (Fri) / 7:00 PM @ Andale
