Gerlach & Seier combine for 16 hits in last 2 double headers as Cats go 3-1 in last 4 games.

The Wildcats traveled to Rose Hill last Thursday in a league double header match-up against the Rose Hill Rockets. In game 1, Mulvane took the early lead and was up 6-1 in the 4th inning. The Rockets battled back and scored 5 runs in the last 3 innings to tie the game 6-6. In the 8th inning, Mason Ellis hit a single and then stole second base and Hunter Seier drove him in with an RBI single to win the game 7-6.

Gage Gerlach lead the cats at the plate with a perfect 4 hits at 4 at bats and had 1 RBI. Hunter Seier knocked in 2 runs off of 2 hits. Tanner Nelson, Nathan Klein, Gehrig Benson, and Cole Schmidt all had 1 RBI as well. Hunter Dye pitched 5 and 1/3 innings facing 28 batters, striking out 5. Seier and Cole Diffenbaugh both saw some mound time with Seier picking up the win.

In game 2, the Wildcats took control in the 1st inning scoring 3 runs and did not give up the lead the rest of the game winning 7-3 on 9 hits. Seier and Gerlach lead the cats in game 2, both with 3 hits at 4 at bats. Gerlach, Schmidt, Benson, and Diffenbaugh all recorded 1 RBI each.

Mulvane hosted Winfield on Monday and split with the Vikings in the non-league double header. The Vikings took the first game 13-9 and Mulvane won the night cap 3-2 to bring the Cats season record to 5-9 (4-2 in AVCTL D4 play). Seier recorded 2 hits (1 double & 1 single) and knocked in 1 RBI. Nelson, Klein, and Schmidt all had 1 hit and 1 RBI in the game.

Benson pitched 4.2 innings and faced 23 batters and had 5 strikeouts. Diffenbaugh put in some time on the mound as well
and Schmidt finished the last 2 innings on the mound.

Runs were at a premium in game 2 as the Cats won 3-2 in 7 innings. Diffenbaugh, Drew Ellis, Klein, Greer, and Seier all recorded 1 hit each. Diffenbaugh, Ellis, and Webb scored the 3 runs for the Cats. Caleb Heird pitched a complete game for the Wildcats facing 27 batters, allowing 2 runs, and had 5 strikeouts.

Mulvane will travel to Wellington on Thursday (4/25/2019) for a league matchup against the Crusaders. Game 1 starts at 4:00 PM.
