Friday, Nov. 14 the football team’s season finally came to an end with a 12-42 loss to Topeka-Hayden.

After finishing out the regular season with a record of 3-6, a record unusually dismal for the high standards of Coach Dave Fennewald’s Wildcat football team, they got a little dose of playoff fever and pulled off an upset against a heavily favored McPherson team. In fact, McPherson was favored by a 42 point margin. We now know that this prediction was proved to be quite incorrect, after Mulvane marched into McPherson with a chip on their shoulder and stole away a close game with a final score of 28-25, earning Mulvane the title of Regional Champions.

Looking toward next season, the Wildcats will, as always, be forced to cope with losing key starters. On the offensive side, graduating seniors are QB RJ Rieger, RB Austin Brown, OL Tyler Young, and OL Brent Martin. Defensively, graduating seniors are DL Riley Rahe and DB Taylor Cusick. Perhaps the most missed player will be the dynamic RB-LB combo Jace Price. The hard fought season ended with a loss to Topeka-Hayden in the Sectional round of the 4A State Playoffs.
