Former Mulvane standout Kolby Fennewald (2013) was tabbed the Week 10 KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week. Kolby is in his second year at Butler County Community College for the Grizzlies football team. He played special teams in the 2013 season and was moved to Linebacker in 2014 spring ball. Earlier in the 2014 season, Kolby was primary back up for all 3 linebacker positions, and playing on every special teams. Kolby has started linebacker for the past three games.
Butler faced off against Highland Community College for week 10. Kolby had 7 tackles (3 solo + 4 assist) and also scored his first touchdown in his collegiate career with an 87 yard fumble recovery return. Butler ended up defeating Highland 41-10 and has a season record of 7-3 (5-2 in the Conference). Butler is also currently ranked 17 in the nation according to the latest NJCAA poll.
Kolby currently has 51 tackles (19 Solo + 32 Assists), 3 sacks, 1 INT, and 3 fumble recoveries (1 TD) for the 2014 season. Butler will finish up their regular season against Ellsworth (Iowa) at home on Saturday, November 8 at 1:00 PM.
Kolby was also named Academic Athlete of the week at Butler County back in September and was also selected to the KJCCC Academic All Conference team for the 2013 Season.
