Friday, September 26, the Mulvane football team traveled to Wichita Collegiate to face the Spartans and lost 34-14.

The Spartans scored on their first drive of the game on a 32 yard run by junior quarterback Austin Waddell. After that touchdown run, however, the running game was dominated by running back Jaques Williams, who rushed for 204 yards and 4 touchdowns, leading the Spartans offensive attack.

The Wildcats tried to salvage their defensive effort behind junior Brent Cusick, who had 20 tackles, and sophomore James Chancellor with 2 sacks.

Offensively, senior quarterback RJ Rieger threw for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns. The touchdown passes were thrown to Jaden Dulaney and Cody Johnston.

The Wildcats travel to Circle Friday, October 3rd to play the Thunderbirds. The game unfortunately will not be streamed to High school game cube; however you may view the Mulvane channel here.

The Wildcats look to bounce back from their loss to the Spartans. “We haven’t been a good rushing team this year,” said senior Brent Martin. “We worked hard all week during practice, and we hope it will pay off during the game.”

The Wildcats have rushed for 336 rushing yards this year after 4 games. Last year at this point, we had 1168 rushing yards. The rushing game definitely needs improvement, and they’re looking for this game against Circle to be a turning point in the Wildcats season.
