On Friday, September 19th, the Mulvane High School football team convincingly defeated Clearwater 31-13.
Although Clearwater scored the first touchdown, the Wildcats went on a 31-0 scoring run before Clearwater scored a defensive touchdown off of a Mulvane fumble.
Senior Quarterback Rj Rieger was the pivotal cog of Mulvane’s dominate passing game, throwing for 282 yards, and throwing 4 Touchdown passes.
Senior Jaden Dulaney was on the receiving end of two impressive touchdown passes, including a 73 yard catch and run.
One of the Key plays early in the game was a fourth down stop by the defense on the goal line.
“The stop kept the momentum on our side.” said Sophomore Defensive end James Chancellor. “If we hadn’t stopped them, they would have had the momentum.”
The touchdown-saving tackle was made by Chancellor, who threw the tailback off of the pile and onto the ground a yard shy of the end zone.
With this win, it nets the Wildcats their first win of the season, bringing their record to 1-2. Mulvane travels to Wichita collegiate September 26th
Some may remember the Wichita Collegiate game last year when the Wildcats prevailed after a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter. I’m sure the Spartans haven’t forgotten last year’s game, as it meant an end to their season. This game will be important for Collegiate, as well as Mulvane, as the Wildcats look to extend their winning streak.
