Former Mulvane Track Thrower Isaiah Evans finishes career at WSU and makes mark in record books.

MHS - Track & Field / March 18, 2020 By Kasey McDowell

Former Mulvane Wildcats Isaiah Evans completed his track and field career at Wichita State University last May and he made his mark in the all-time top 10 lists at WSU. He sits at #7 all-time in the Indoor Weight Throw with a 19.49m/63-11.5 mark and he sits at #7 in the Outdoor Hammer Throw with a 59.73m/195-11 mark, both set in 2019. He also finished his senior season with a 2nd place All-Conference finish in the Outdoor Discus.

"My college career started a little rough," said Isaiah. "I originally went to play football at Hutch CC, however when that didn’t workout I took a year off of sports before deciding to walk on at Cowley CC. Then once I received a scholarship offer to WSU I didn’t even look at other offers because I knew that’s where I wanted to be. I eventually finished up my career, not the way I wanted but a 2nd place finish was all I could do. I wouldn’t trade a single decision that I made in my career and I’m happy with the path that I followed," said Evans.

Evans was signed on to coach the throwers at Mulvane Middle School this year but due to the current events, his immediate future isn't clear. "The future is looking bright, I’m working on coaching some more, with this season possibly being a bust I will probably try to work for WSU as a coach next year but things still aren’t clear," said Evans.

"My career as a whole was up and down the whole time and the experiences that I had were ones I wouldn’t trade for the world. Putting in so much time and passion into one thing isn’t as easy as it seems from loaded days, early morning workouts and injuries, it wasn’t always the most fun but at the end of the day, it was one of the best experiences of my life," said Evans
