The 7th grade basketball team sweeps the Rockets; fall to Clearwater in season end tourney.

The 7th-grade boy's basketball finished their season out this Saturday as they faced Clearwater at the end of the season league tournament. The boys fell to Clearwater 33-43.

"The boys played really hard in our first-round matchup against Clearwater. We were knocking down shots and playing with the momentum in our favor early in the game," said Coach Hansen.

"We allowed too many uncontested outside shots in the second and third quarters. Their outside shots started to fall and we couldn’t keep up offensively. Aiden Heckathorn got into foul trouble late in the game. Losing Aiden’s rebounding and defensive presence made it hard for us to come from behind," said Hansen.

"Our scoring was more spread out than usual. The boys did a great job of looking for each other and making extra passes to get open shots," said Coach Hansen.

"We may not have had the most athletic basketball team this year with our 7th-grade group, but what we did have was a dedicated, hard-working group of boys that listen and have a desire to improve. This group of boys didn’t come with a lot of experience playing together so it was fun to watch their chemistry grow and them come together as a team," said Coach Hansen.

"Coach Metzger and I have a pretty simple goal each season. As the first coaches these boys have as a part of the Mulvane Basketball Program we try to ensure that all of our kids enjoy the game and show improvement in the basic fundamentals of the game. We try to build a positive culture and begin introducing some of the things Coach Abasolo uses with them as high schoolers. I’m incredibly proud of each of the members of the 7th-grade team and I am excited to watch them mature and learn more from Coach Hargrove next season," said Hansen.
