The men's basketball team finished up the regular season with a big win over Rose Hill, look ahead to sub-state.

The Mulvane boys basketball traveled to Rose Hill last Thursday, February 27th for the final regular-season and league games of the year and the Cats came away with 2 wins and 1 loss on the evening as the varsity boys played a great game, defeating the Rockets 63-53, the JV team lost a close one 55-61, and the C team won 28-22 (only 2 quarters played). 

The Wildcats jumped on top of the Rockets with a 17-14 first quarter and increased the lead to 6 with a 13-10 second quarter and went into halftime up 30-24. The Cats and Rockets had an even 13-13 third quarter and the Cats were able to keep the lead at arm's length in the 4th quarter, forcing the Rockets to eventually start fouling the Cats to stop the clock. The Wildcats scored 14 of their 20 points in the 4th quarter with free throws.

Trey Abasolo led the Wildcats with 27 points and also in rebounds with 10 boards. Michael Manis dropped in 10 points on the evening and Gage Gerlach and Mason Ellis both finished with 9 points each. Ian Comer finished with 7 points and also 9 boards. Canon Smith finished with 1 point on the evening.

With Trey's 27 points, his career total is now sitting at 997 and he's looking to break 1000 in the first sub-state game vs Wamego.

JV box score is not available but the Cats fell to the Rockets 55-61. Aaron Ballinger led the Cats with 17 points and Mason Ellis finished with 10 points. Ian Comer dropped in 9 points, Tyson Lazier finished with 6 points, Sam Westfall and Ethan Kasparek both finished with 5 points, Trent Billingslea finished with 2 points, and Canon Smith finished with 1 point.

The C-team boys only played 2 quarters and the Cats topped the Rockets 28-22. Ethan Kasparek led the Cat with 10 points, Jacob Duncan finished with 7 points, Tyson Lazier finished with 5 points, Logan Harness finished with 4 points, and Christian Duranleau finished with 2 points.
