After a historical regional championship, the Cross Country Girls participated and placed 8th in the 4A State race.

Making school history, the Mulvane Women's Cross Country won the regional championship last Saturday (Oct. 26th) and earned a trip to 4A State. This is the first time the Mulvane Women's team has won regionals in school history and Coach Roderick's team made the trip up to Wamego this morning for the 12:20 PM race.

Junior Campbell Williams led the Cats with a 32nd place finish with a time of 21:32.66 and scoring 21 team points followed by junior Anna Moon in 33rd place with a time of 21:33.74 and scoring 22 team points. Senior Emily Hankins finished in 47th place with a time of 22:17.41 and scoring 33 team points. Senior Josie Russell finished in 78th place with a time of 23:43.57 and scoring 61 points. Sophomore Kaitlyn Frieden finished in 79th place with a time of 23:43.83 and 62 team points. Sophomore Kamryn Nolan finished in 97th place with a time of 24:58.95 and 77 team points and senior Karstyn Nolan finished in 102nd place with a time of 26:21.22 and 82 team points.

Mulvane finished in 8th place overall with 199 points (only the first 5 scores are counted), a total time of 1:52:51.21, and an average time of 22:34.25. The final team results are as follows:

1. Buhler - 60 pts (7, 8, 12, 14, 19)
2. Baldwin - 74 pts (4, 13, 16, 18, 23)
3. Eudora - 76 pts (3, 6, 10, 28, 29)
4. Fort Scott - 161 pts (2, 20, 30, 53, 56)
5. Louisburg - 165 pts (1, 27, 36, 44, 57)
6. Augusta - 180 pts (11, 24, 32, 38, 75)
7. Pratt - 182 pts (5, 17, 47, 50, 63)
8. Mulvane - 199 pts (21, 22, 33, 61, 62)
9. Paola - 203 pts (9, 37, 46, 51, 60)
10. Circle - 210 pts (15, 34, 43, 49, 69)
11. Andale - 223 pts (31, 39, 40, 54, 59)
12. Iola - 271 pts (26, 52, 55, 66, 72)

The individual winner was Taylor Briggs from Chapman with a time of 19:00.05.
