The Mulvane Football team is enjoying its second victory of the season as well as homecoming festivities this week as they look forward to facing El Dorado this Friday for the 2019 football Homecoming game. The Cats faced the Rose Hill Rockets last Friday for an AVCTL D4 league game and the Wildcats came home with a 28-14 victory. With Friday's win, the Cats are on a 5 game win streak against the Rockets going back to 2015.

Mulvane struck first as sophomore Mason Ellis found the end zone on a 3 yard run at the 4:48 mark of the 1st quarter and freshman Chase Dieker's PAT was good. The Cats defense shut down the Rockets in the 1st quarter as the quarter ended with a 7-0 lead for the Wildcats.

The Cats found the end zone again at the 5:46 mark of the second quarter as Ellis found sophomore Hunter Seier in the back of the end zone for a 11 yard td pass (Dieker PAT Kick).  The defense shut down the Rockets on the next possession and a faulty snap gave the Wildcats great field position at the 31 yard line. Ellis found senior Cole Diffenbaugh on the very next play with a beautiful 31 yard TD pass (Dieker PAT Kick). Mulvane went into halftime with a 21-0 win.

The third quarter was a battle of the defenses until Rose Hill punched one in at the 1:12 mark with a 2 yard run. Senior Tyler Lanzrath broke through the line and blocked the PAT attempt. The Cats defense forced a turnover on downs early in the fourth quarter and after a Mulvane punt, senior Matt Beyer got his second interception of the year when he picked off a screen attempt and returned it to the Mulvane 4 yard line. Ellis found Seier again for a 4 yard TD pass two plays later (Dieker PAT Kick).

The Rockets added a late fourth quarter score but the Cats held on for the 28-14 win.
