The Mulvane Wildcats Baseball team has a new skipper, though he is not new to Mulvane Baseball at all. Coach Steve Nelson, who has been an assistant coach for Mulvane Baseball since 2006, has taken over the head coaching duties as Coach Daniel Myears stepped down after taking the head Football position and head Women's Basketball coaching position for the 2018-19 season. Myears is the varsity assistant coach for baseball this year.

"I am both nervous and excited about this upcoming season." said Nelson. "I have obviously been coaching baseball for many years, but being the guy that has to plan all of the details has been very different. I can't thank Coach Myears enough for all of his help with this transition."

"On the season itself, I am very excited about what the season might look like. We lost a lot of valuable seniors with a lot experience last year but we have some good young kids coming up. I am very excited to get started and see what we can do. We'll work as hard as we can and I know the kids will give me their all."

Mulvane has 5 seniors returning, 9 juniors, 4 sophomores, and 9 freshman on the roster this season. Seniors Nathan Klein, Cole Schmidt, Braden Webb, and Caleb Heird are all returning. Senior Drew Ellis is playing baseball for the 1st time in his high school career.

Mulvane will have its 15th annual alumni scrimmage on March 16th at 11:00 AM at the Mulvane Sports Complex. The season will kick off with a home double header against Circle on March 25th at 4:00 PM.
