Mulvane freshman Chadwick Stahl finished out his 2017-18 season with a trip to State to represent the Wildcats in the Class 4A Tournament in the 106 lb weight class.
Stahl's first match was against Kael Lane from Ottawa where he was able to pin his opponent at the 3:18 mark in the match following an escape. His second match was against Rhett Koppes from Clay Center, but he was pinned at the 5:12 mark of the match. His third match was against Trent Clements from Chanute and Chadwick was able to blank Trent by points with a 9-0 decision. His last match was against Gabe Fox from Augusta, unfortunately Fox was able to take the match in a 10-2 decision. Stahl finished state with a 2-2 record and finished just out of 5th place.
"Chadwick had outstanding season as a freshman 36-10 record and placed in all varsity tournaments. He was regional runner-up and came within one match of a medal at the State tournament.Chadwick stands a very good chance of being chosen 1st team all-league at 106 and various of team awards" said Coach Langerot.
The last Mulvane freshman to make it to State was Mulvane standout and 3-time state champion Anthony Scantlin in the 2013-14 season, where he finished 2nd place.
