Ty Redington is currently leading many batting stat categories for the Grizzlies

   The bat is cracking nicely for former Mulvane Wildcat Ty Redington (2013), who is currently playing baseball for Butler County Community College. Ty is currently leading the Grizzlies in several batting categories with 163 Plate Appearances, 127 At Bats, 33 Runs, 40 Hits, 23 Walks, and 25 Stolen Bases. Ty is in the top few in several other categories as well with 4 HR (2nd), 22 RBI (3rd), .315 AVG (3rd), .436 OBP (2nd), and .449 SLG (3rd). The Butler Grizzlies are currently 20-19 overall and 12-8 in conference play with 15 games left in the regular season and 12 of those are conference games. Ty spends his game time perched in center field where he has recorded 67 Putouts, 5 Assists, and 3 Errors for a .967 Efficiency rating.

   Redington is in his second year playing for the Grizzlies. During his freshman year, he was shifted around in the field to fill a few positions as needed, mainly shortstop, second base, and left field.Ty had a very good Freshman year at the bat and ended the season with 187 Plate Appearances, 137 At Bats, 44 Runs, 39 Hits, 22 RBI, .285 AVG, .441 OBP, and .409 SLG. The 2014 Grizzlies ended with a 36-23 overall record and 20-12 in conference play.

   Ty was a standout 3 year baseball player for Mulvane during the 2011, 2012, and 2013 seasons where he lead the team in batting average each season. He finished with a high school career .447 AVG, 79 Runs, and a still standing school record 101 hits and gathered numerous awards during his high school career, including a league MVP during his Junior season. Ty played for the Derby Twins summer baseball team last year. When asked, Ty said he hopes to continue his college career at Fort Hays State after his tenure at Butler. Note: Another former Mulvane Wildcat, Gus Strunk, is finishing up his Senior year at Fort Hays this season.

   The Butler Grizzlies are hosting Pratt CC in a string of 4 conference games this weekend, the first game starting Friday, April 10th at 4:00 PM, then a double header on Saturday starting at 2:00 PM and a single game on Sunday starting at 6:00 PM.
