We are excited and pleased to announce the launch of a new website for Mulvane High School Athletics (www.mulvanesports.com). This new website will be the central hub for all of Mulvane High School Athletics and the current websites will be discontinued. The URLs will still be active, but they will forward you to the new website.

Please take some time to browse the new mulvanesports.com website. We are finishing up some minor details but most of the website is functional.

All the data from the old sites has been (or will be) transferred over to this new site and we have a few new features as well. One feature we are excited about is where MHS students can write articles for all the different sporting events. (currently there are just dummy articles on the site, until the seasons start)

My target date for discontinuing the old websites is Aug 31st, which at that the old sites will automatically forward you to mulvanesports.com.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Congrats to former Mulvane baseball player Alex Evans who was selected to the KJCCC All-Conference Western Division Team (Honorable Mention).

Below is the article:
http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/bsb/2013-14/releases/20140515bl9a7c

The Barton Community College baseball team landed three players on the KJCCC All-Conference Western Division Team announced recently. Sophomore Scott Tyler and freshman Grant Watkins lead the selections earning second team honors while freshman hurler Alexander Evans landed on the honorable mention selection list.

...

The closer out of the bullpen, Evans began the season pitching eleven consecutive shutout innings of relief finishing the season with 46.0 innings on the mound going 3-2 with seven saves and a 2.54 ERA to earn honorable mention honors. The freshman from Mulvane, Kansas, value drastically increased as the season went on and so did his innings pitched, going a then career high four innings to shut down the Jayhawk West Champions Hutchinson Community College to earn his first victory of the season on April 19th. With the region playoff seeding on the line, Evans appeared in seven innings of the four game regular season ending series to help Barton to a four-game sweep of Pratt Community College to move up in the region standings. In game three of the series, in what was one of Evans' most memorable performances of the year, Evans struck out six in three innings to help earn Head Coach Mike Warren his 1000th collegiate career victory. With the confidence of his skipper, Evans even earned the starting nod in the Cougars' must-win game in Coffeyville, striking out eight with one walk in 5.1 innings pitched.

May 15, 2014-Emporia State closer Brenton Higgins was named to the CoSIDA Daktronics All-Central Region team today in a vote of the region's Sports Information Directors.

The senior from Mulvane, Kan. was a first-team All-MIAA selection and led the league with 12 saves. He was 7-2 on the year with a 1.44 ERA in 27 appearances. His availability for the remainder of the season is in doubt after aggravating an elbow injury in the MIAA Tournament.

The Hornets are playing in the NCAA Division II Central Regional Tournament after winning the MIAA Tournament championship last weekend.

Congrats to former Mulvane baseball player Brenton Higgins who was selected as the MIAA/AstroTurf Pitcher of the Week.

Here is the article: http://www.themiaa.com/news/2014/4/22/BB_0422140214.aspx

Higgins did not allow a run or hit in four relief appearances that resulted in two wins and two saves last week as Emporia State ran its winning streak to 11 games. He faced the minimum over 6.0 innings during the week. He has a string of 7.2 scoreless innings without allowing a hit dating back to the Hornets 5-3 win over Washburn on April 6. He started this week working the final 2.0 innings in the Hornets 7-6 win at Washburn. He came in with one out and runner on in the 7th inning of the first game of the weekend against NWMSU and got a strike out and fly out to preserve the tie before Emporia State won with a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh. He worked a perfect 9th in the Hornets 3-1 win over the Bearcats in game two. He came on with two runners in scoring position and Emporia State holding an 8-7 lead with two outs in the 7th inning of the finale of the series and got a fly out to center to end the threat. He did not allow another ball out of the infield and had two strikeouts the rest of the way as he posted his league leading 9th save of the year. The 6-1 senior relief pitcher is a native of Mulvane, Kan. and played at Garden City Community College prior to becoming a Hornet.
